virtual class 16

The purpose of this particular blog posting is to discuss my blog that I have created and added to over the course of the semester and see what thoughts have developed that I have written down within the course of that time. For the most part, the blogs that I have created have dealt with new forms of technology that I had not used very often before I had a blog, or at least was not very familiar with. To name one example, the concept of having a blog has been very beneficial, not only for the sake of the classroom or to complete school-related work, but also just to demonstrate progress made throughout the class as well as progress in life in general.
The two areas of the blog that I would like to focus on that I plan to continue to focus and expand on is the subjects and material that I have learned over time, primarily so that I can look back within the upcoming years and see everything that I have grown and expanded on and realize that I am a totally different person now and have much more knowledge about many more things that will help me communicate with everyone in a better way.
The second form that I am planning on using from here and on out will be the aspect of keeping my progress documented so that I can learn more from the future and figure things out in a more timely manner. I very much hope that I can do blogs in other classes, too, since it is a great way to learn things and keep up to date on your progress which advances so greatly over time and can pile up to a great extent. Thanks so much to Doc Mara for letting us do blogs for this class.

Virtual Class 13

I was very glad that Scott McCloud was able to come to NDSU because he truly is an amazing and stimulating individual. I also was glad that I had the privilege to check out his amazing blog and get somewhat of a feel for doing a blog and having different images mixed in with a somewhat story-like sense. From the information I could gather about Scott McCloud, he sounds like an extremely intelligent man who has much to offer and many wonderful and valuable ideas. With someone as brilliant as he is creating and designing new changes in the technology world, there certainly must be so much that everyone can learn from him regarding new-age technology and what can be done in order to promote the latest steps in modern-day technology. For those of us who are young (and even those who are not young, but considered old and past their expiration date) can learn so much about technology with all the amazing technology that is emerging and blossoming in our world and society today that did not exist many years ago and that people are just learning about today. I hope that Mr. McCloud does come back to NDSU again and that he has even more information and visuals to gill our minds with.

blog 8, virtual class 12

The characteristics of human intelligence regarding the subject of humans vs technology has become quite a controversy over the years. Some people believe that someday technology is going to take over the world, eventually (some people hope for it and others fear it like crazy). But the most likely fact of the matter (which was strongly demonstrated in the Techtalk on Blackboard) is that there are still many things that only humans can figure out and computers cannot. The example used in this instance was codes on a computer that are all blurry and one would have to type the letters into the text box correctly in order to proceed on. This example was used to demonstrate that any idiot would not be able to get through if they did not understand the concept of what they must do. However, this concept can go the other direction as well in that computers can be outsmated in many ways, as well, in that there likely is no way that technology will be able to take over our lives any time in the future, although it may come close and seem that way.

Mokatmo's page

Here's 3 agreements I can make with this path:

Cool picture- it's hilarious and eye catching.

Cool layout- also eye-catching and good use of color, too.

Good posts- these posts are good and I can tell by looking at them that you included lots of adequate detail. Nice job :)!

virtual class 10

This mock-up demonstrates the relationship between producers and readers in that it seems very easy to access and very easy to read and comprehend, as well. I especially like the links that are on the left-hand side of the page which always come in handy in pretty much any website. The three pictures currently being displayed on the mock-up are pretty nice, too.

As stated earlier, the blog has gotten off to a nice start. But if I had to recommend something I would recommend that there may be a few more pictures to add a few more graphics. Adding to the theme of visuals, a jazzier background may be more eye-catching if it was a color different than plain white. Maybe a blue or green would be more appropriate or a particular design. And the fonts used at the current time could maybe look a little funkier, as well. These little things may not seem like huge priorities, and maybe they don’t have to be. Just a few little things like this may be just enough to draw some more attention from websearchers to the sight. As for the information so far, the information seems very good and that it will be fine. As the group responsible for this continues to make progress on the site, I think it would be very beneficial for the group to assign tasks to the different members of the group (or maybe they already have) which will assign different tasks to accomplish throughout the course of the project. Good start with what you have done and good luck with the rest of it!

My recent experiences

The experiences that I pursued in this activity were somewhat valuable. I thought that the video I watched from youtube of the speech given by Nicholas Negroponte (that's a mouthful) was very fascinating and I was not one bit surprised to hear what I heard, since technology is growing so rapidly and more and more great inventions are coming out every year. I was glad to hear that technology is being invented for young children because young children are the key to a successful future for the world. I also read the blog about electric cars coming out in the future and left a comment and also commented on another guy's blog who was sick. Here are the links:

What the fudge will I do to contribute to the cityblog?

This city blog thing is something we are doing for our Electronic Communication course, led by Doc Mara and I am very interested to see how it is going to turn out in the long run. I think that the part that I will take in creating this blog will be something that has to do with photographs and pictures, particularly photoshop or something along those lines. I believe that I would be a good candidate for this particular position regarding creating and adding elements to this city blog because over the years I have developed a passion for photography after I got a digital camera for my birthday the year that I turned 14 and I have been playing around and monkeying with it ever since. My favorite thing do do with pictures is to crop them (meaning to edit out the extra backround and other things in the picture and to zero in on the center part.

I think that I will be able to handle time constraints and responsibilites by checking blackboard very frequently and make sure that I am keeping up with everything that is expected of me. I will not hesitate to e-mail Doc Mara and ask him to help me out when I am unclear of the intstructions or simply just do not know what the heck is going on with the world. Did I mention that I really like Doc Mara because he has been very helpful so far this semester and has been very more than willingly gone out of his way to help me because I’m kind of knew and brainless when it comes to certain technological issues and aspects of technology? Well anyways, back to the main point before I sidetrack too far. I plan to be really on top of my game and to listen to instructions regarding what my responsibilities are in order to stay on top of things and so that everybody likes me as opposed to everyone truly hating my guts. And how is this possible knowing me, do you ask? Well the answer is actually really simple. I wil deal with time constraints by doing a little bit of work at a time here and there and keeping a schedule of what work I did, when and where so that I can stay ahead of myself and not fall behind.

How this blog has enhanced me

My blog has enhanced me quite a bit so far this semester (even though we've only been in the semster for about 3 weeks). I have never had a blog of my own before this class, so it is pretty exciting to finally have one of my own. The great upsides of having a blog is that it is a great way to reveal information about yourself to the world (assuming you feel comfortable exposing this personal information) as well as that you can find out information about other people from their blogs. Electronic communication is so handy and is probably the best source of communication that has been invented so far. The only downside so far of having a blog is that I still am a little unclear of how it works, and the username and e-mail stuff is a little confusing (but I'm getting there........seriously). I am definitely positive that I will be well educated on blogs and everything that goes along with them. I am very optimistic that this blog will benefit me a lot in the long run. I hope to learn a lot more information about electronic communication as this class continues to run its course and I also hope that I may be able to teach other people about blogs in the future and that my knowlege about blogs and other educational information about blogs and other forms of electronic education will continue to increase and that I may even someday become a computer genius!!!! Maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit here and there, but I am dead serious when I say that it can be done (did I not say that before? Well I'm saying it now). So please check up on my blog as I create more posts. Have a nice day.

How we will think in 50 years

Many things could be different in 50 years. There will be so much more knowledge for everyone to know; especially about technology and how things have developed or will continue to develop over time. Many predictions say that we will be like robots, or that robots may exist in human forms. A few predictions say that there will be robots or machines that can play sports like soccer or football and that they will be able to defeat the opposing team in an amazing way. Expanding on how I think we will think as humans in 50 years; I think we will think the way we always have thought before; with the exception that we will have much more knowledge about technology and many more modern day conviences to make our lives better (or at least hopefully not worse). I believe that humans will have much greater knowledge about the advantages of technology and we will be able to use them to find a cure for Cancer and AIDS, Diabbetes and other deadly illnesses that affect humans today. We also will have brought about new ways to help save the environment and to control population outbreaks and control global warming, all that good stuff. My biggest hope is that technology will become very advanced and that many good advances will come about and that the world will be very much a better place for everyone. My biggest fear about how we will think in 50 years is that we may depend on technology a little too much and it will end up becoming so advanced that it will take over the world completely and we will all become slaves over its power. I hope very much that technology will be smart but not smarter than a human being. As humans, we should not take advantage of the situation too much so that it will become destructive. We need to be able to find a solution to technology advancement so that it only can help us and not hurt us.

Hello

Hey, my name is Jeff and I just started this blog today. I'll update it whenever I can.
